Rotate an image
This tool turns a picture by 90, 180 or 270 degrees and writes it out the right way up, which is what a photo that arrived sideways needs. Unlike rotating a PDF page, the pixels really move here, so the image is encoded again after the turn. Rotating runs in your browser, and your image is never uploaded.

Questions
- Does rotating cost quality?
- For a PNG, no: it stays lossless. A JPG is encoded again after the turn, which costs a little, the same as any second save of a JPG.
- Why does my photo look sideways everywhere?
- Many cameras store the picture as it came off the sensor and note the rotation separately. Programs that ignore that note show the photo sideways. Turning it here writes the pixels in the right orientation, so the question no longer comes up.
- Can I turn by something other than 90 degrees?
- No. The choices are 90, 180 and 270 degrees, which is what a sideways or upside down picture needs.
- Is my image uploaded to a server?
- No. Rotating happens in your browser; the file never leaves your device.
