Compress an image
This tool reduces the file size of a JPG, PNG or WebP image without changing its format. Everything runs in your browser, so the file is never uploaded. Lowering the quality slider makes JPG and WebP files smaller; PNG is compressed losslessly, so its pixels do not change.

Questions
- Does compressing lower the quality?
- For JPG and WebP, a lower quality number gives a smaller file with more visible loss of detail. PNG compression is lossless: the pixels stay exactly the same.
- Does the file format change?
- No. A JPG stays a JPG, a PNG stays a PNG and a WebP stays a WebP.
- What is the default quality?
- 70. You can raise or lower it before running the tool.
- What is the size limit?
- Each image can be up to 50 MB and up to 50 megapixels, depending on what your browser can handle.
