Generate a QR code for a WiFi network
This tool turns a network name and password into a QR code. Scanning it with a phone's camera connects it to the network directly, with no typing the password by hand: useful for a cafe, a waiting room or a guest network at home. It supports WPA and WPA2 networks, WPA3 (which authenticates differently and has its own setting), WEP, open networks with no password at all, and a hidden network that does not broadcast its name. It runs in your browser, so the password is never uploaded.

How it works
- 1 Enter the network name (SSID) and choose its security type.
- 2 Enter the password, unless the network is open.
- 3 Mark the network as hidden if it does not broadcast its name.
- 4 Download the PNG and scan it to connect.
Questions
- Which networks does this support?
- WPA and WPA2 networks, WPA3 as its own setting, plus WEP and open networks with no password. Pick WPA/WPA2 unless the router runs WPA3 only, since a WPA3 router that still accepts WPA2 takes that code too. A hidden network that does not broadcast its name works too, once marked as hidden.
- How long may the network name and password be?
- The network name (SSID) may be up to 32 characters and the password up to 63, the limits the WiFi standard itself allows.
- Does the password reach a server?
- No. The code is generated in your browser, so the password never leaves your device.
- What if the network has no password?
- Choose "No password" as the security type. The password field disappears, and the code tells the phone to connect without one.
