Generate a QR code
This tool turns text into a QR code and hands you a PNG: a link, a WLAN password, a serial number, contact details. The code contains exactly what you typed, with no redirect through another domain, which is the part most free generators quietly get wrong. It is generated in your browser, so nothing you type is uploaded.
Runs in your browser
How it works
- 1 Type or paste the text to encode.
- 2 Choose the error correction level if medium is not what you need.
- 3 GRID16 generates the code in your browser.
- 4 Download the PNG.
Questions
- Does the code point to GRID16?
- No. It contains the text you typed and nothing else. Many free generators encode a link to their own site and forward from there, which lets them count the scans and switch the code off later. This one has nothing to switch off.
- What does the error correction level do?
- It decides how much of the code may be damaged and still scan. A higher level survives a scratch or a logo placed on top and makes the pattern denser for the same text. Medium is the default and the usual choice for print.
- How long may the text be?
- Up to 2000 characters. A short link scans from much further away than a long one, so shorter is better whenever you have the choice.
- Does my text reach a server?
- No. The code is generated in your browser, so a password or a private link never leaves your device.
