Compress a video

This tool reduces the file size of an MP4, MOV or WebM video. Compressing video takes more time and memory than a browser can offer, so the file is uploaded and processed on GRID16's servers in Germany. The upload is deleted as soon as the job has finished, and the compressed result 60 minutes after it is ready. A phone video recorded in HDR is converted so its colors stay correct instead of looking washed out. The result is always an MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio, which plays on virtually every device.

Drop a video here

MP4, MOV, or WebM, up to 500 MB and 10 minutes

How it works

  1. 1 Choose an MP4, MOV or WebM file or drop it onto the page.
  2. 2 Pick a quality and, for a smaller file, a lower resolution.
  3. 3 GRID16 uploads the video and compresses it on its servers.
  4. 4 Download the compressed MP4.

Questions

What are the limits?
Up to 500 MB and 10 minutes, free of charge. A larger or longer video is refused before anything is compressed.
What happens to an HDR video from my phone?

What format do I get back?

How long is the result available?
For 60 minutes after the job finishes. After that, the result is deleted too.
