Convert CSV to Excel
This tool converts a CSV file to an Excel workbook (.xlsx) in your browser. A CSV holds one table, so the result is one workbook with one sheet. A field becomes a number cell only when that loses nothing: a leading zero, a long ID or account number, and a decimal comma all stay text, exactly as the file writes them. A date stays exactly as written too, and a field starting with "=" is never turned into a formula. Your file is never uploaded.

Questions
- When does a field become a number?
- Only when reading it as one loses nothing: a plain integer or decimal with no leading zero, no thousands separator, no decimal comma, no leading plus sign, and at most 15 significant digits. Anything else, such as 00123, stays text.
- Why does a long ID or account number stay text?
- Excel stores a number as a double: more than 15 significant digits would round the last one away, and more than 11 digits before the decimal point would show in scientific notation, either of which turns an ID into the wrong value on screen.
- What happens to dates?
- They stay exactly as written. A CSV date has no marker for its format, so turning it into a real date would mean guessing; a text cell still sorts and filters normally.
- Can a field starting with "=" run as a formula?
- No. Every field keeps its own cell type, so a field that starts with "=" is written as plain text and is never evaluated.
- Is my file uploaded to a server?
- No. The conversion happens in your browser; the file never leaves your device.
